I am a computer science graduate and AI researcher dedicated to advancing AI in Africa and beyond. I am passionate about exploring how AI and emerging technologies can drive impact in low-resource settings. My career began at the Bio and Emerging Technology Institute (BETin), where I worked as an AI researcher, focusing on applying AI across diverse domains. I have led Ethiopia’s national roadmap and policy on emerging technologies and AI, and contributed internationally through the African-European Network on Development and Sustainability program in Germany. I served as Director and Researcher for the Computational Science and Intelligence Systems Directorate at BETin. At the moment, I am working as an Advisor on AI for Economic Development with the “AI Made in Africa” project at GIZ, African Union office, supporting inclusive and sustainable AI ecosystems across Africa.
