Berta Fernández Nuez is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Antwerp within the InfoCitizen project. Her research looks at everyday datafication initiatives in Kenya and their (dis)connections with international development narratives by experimenting with visualization methodologies and co-creation assemblages that enact capabilities, technological disjunctions and sensorial structures. She received a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain) and a master’s degree in African Studies from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Her main research interests are in African memetic politics, literary forms of identity and belonging, youth’s creative forms of resistance and resurgence, and sensorial epistemologies.
