Brenda Geofrey Ndossi currently serves as the Country Director for Barefoot College International (BCI) Zanzibar and Country Chairperson representing Tanzania for African Women in Energy and Power (AWEaP). Under her leadership she empowers rural women in Zanzibar and across Africa through transformative programs in solar engineering and in livelihood programs such as beekeeping, sewing, menstrual health hygiene, regenerative agriculture and life skills training. These programs equip women with invaluable skills to improve their lives, allowing them to diversify their income sources and achieve greater financial independence and to leverage clean energy access into developmental control of their own futures.

Brenda is an expert in Project Management and evaluation, with over ten years of experience in running projects that empower rural women and girls across both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar but with international experience working in Somaliland, Central Africa Republic and Rwanda. Growing up in a family of four daughters, where gender equality was never an issue, Brenda developed a strong sense of purpose to champion women’s rights and help them recognize their innate potential. She strives to be a leader in helping women embrace their God-given talents, build confidence and create positive change within their families, communities and nation. Previously volunteered as a General secretary for Zanzibar U.S Alumni association (ZAUSSA) leadership from Sept 2021 to February 2025.

In addition to her professional work, Brenda is a member of the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) Tanzania Chapter (rural women pillar), an alumna of the Uongozi Institute graduate of Women Leadership Programme, alumni of Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) U.S. exchange program, graduate of young women leadership Program fellow under Care International and DEI for Africa graduate under Bosch Alumni Network.
