Data Institutions Programme Lead, Open Data Institute

Jane Crowe is Data Institutions Programme Lead at the Open Data Institute, a UK based non-profit organisation that works with companies and governments to build an open, trustworthy data ecosystem. Data institutions play an important role in this, as organisations whose purpose involves stewarding data on behalf of others. The programme aims to build a sustainable, global landscape of organisations stewarding data responsibly to bring about positive outcomes for society, the environment and the economy. It does this through research, partnerships and consultancy services.

Jane is also part of the Women’s Health steering committee led by the UK’s Women in Data network, driving a mission to use data to close the gender health gap. In her previous role at the Data Science Campus at the UK Office for National Statistics, Jane helped to build data science capability and community across government and public sector.

Jane has led diverse programmes across the public and private sectors with previous roles in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the BBC and branding and communications agencies.
