Raymond Amumpaire, a Ugandan lawyer, is dedicated to advocating for responsible AI and digital rights. With a strong foundation in cybersecurity, he combines legal expertise with a keen interest in emerging technologies and cyber policy. His journey began with a Bachelor’s Degree of Laws from Uganda Christian University, where he recognised the importance of legal frameworks in safeguarding the digital space. He honed his legal skills with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in Uganda, preparing him to navigate the complexities of digital rights advocacy. Currently, Raymond leads the team at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Ethics and Governance in Africa (CAIEGA), serves on the advisory council of the Africa Data Governance Hub, and is a Master of Laws candidate at the prestigious Makerere University.
